Ilsa and Pete's Story
The Birth of
Liam Peter Embleton
Ilsa started her birth journey on Wednesday, when she began
having some tightenings on and off. She rang to let me know, but was
not concerned and kept about her days as normal.
I had a phone call from Ilsa again on Thursday morning to let me
know that she felt like things had subsided a little. She still sounded in
good spirits and her and Pete decided to spend the day together,
their last day together before becoming a family.
I spoke to Pete later that night. They had gone into the hospital to
have a quick check and see how everything was going. Bub was doing
well, and continued to stay happy until he was born. While watching
the baby's heartbeat on the scanner, Ilsa's waters broke and from
then on, she was definitely in labour!
Ilsa
laboured so beautifully, using the bath for much of the time. She
breathed through the tightenings and all that yoga seemed to pay off
on the relaxation front!
Pete lovingly massaged Ilsa's back and held her through the most
intense contractions. A few times I heard them exchange "I love you's".
It was just such a loving, calm and positive atmosphere - how
beautiful to bring your baby into an atmosphere like this!
Ilsa's labour progressed quite quickly, and she had not managed much
sleep on Thursday night. She decided to have something to decrease
her discomfort and allow her to rest.
After about two hours of rest, Ilsa announced that she "felt much
better now". She decided to get back in the bath and this is where
she began to feel the urge to push. She moved to a relaxing
position, and there pushed her baby out with amazing calmness and
focus, even making jokes in between contractions!
A beautiful little boy, Liam Peter, was welcomed into the world at
6:30am on Friday 28th November 2008.
Congratulations, Ilsa and Pete, on the arrival of your gorgeous little
man. This truly was an amazing birth to witness; you worked together
so beautifully and calmly to bring forth your baby and I am so
ecstatic that you had such a positive experience! Congratulations
again!
